🏀 WBB: Dragons avenge first road loss

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — It's no secret that the Dragons (15-4, 9-4) have struggled on the road this season (2-4). 

But in the comfort of the Sports Arena, the Dragons are a perfect 11-0.

The first loss of the season came on the road at Independence (14-3, 10-2). 

The Dragons had no trouble with the Pirates Monday night at home.

Hutchinson lost that first matchup 85-69.

The Dragons easily avenged that first loss of the season with a 31-point victory.

The Dragons outscored the Pirates 23-10 in the second quarter to take a 42-22 lead into the break.

Tor'e Alford led the Dragons with 26 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

Kalyn Ervin knocked down three triples to finish with 16 points. 

Mya Williams (13) and Mel Kailahi (10) also finished in double digits. 

Hutchinson scored 32 points in the paint to Indy's 12.

Hutchinson shot 42.6% for the game while holding Indy to 22.8%.

Maisa Marcal led the Pirates with 19 points. No other Pirate scored more than seven.

Indy's 49 points were a season-low.

Independence never led by more than two. That lead came just 2:05 into the game. 

Hutchinson led for 38:42.
