Hutchinson Mayor Jon Richardson was in attendance to read the 2023 Juneteenth proclamation.

Other activities included the Juneteenth Basketball Tournament at Journey Mennonite Church in South Hutchinson. The Hutchinson Youth were the highlight of the afternoon showing off their basketball talents and 3-point shots.

Then on Sunday, June 18, the Juneteenth Community Picnic and Car Show Hosted By HEELO INC and the Salt City Cruiser Car Club at Homebuilder Shelter at Carey Park was well attended by community members and their families along with and the Hutchinson Police and Fire Department.

HEELO Inc. served 200 hamburgers and 200 hotdogs at the Juneteenth Picnic.

A Picnic highlight was Leslie Hale a Hutchinson resident and Juneteenth volunteer and supporter, grilling the hamburgers and hot dogs while giving back to her Hutchinson community.

Lacretia Nicholas, a 93-year-old Hutchinson resident and huge Juneteenth supporter was in attendance enjoying the afternoon festivities while honoring the history and reason Juneteenth is celebrated and uplifted in communities.

Shontina R. Tipton, CEO / Founder of HEELO INC would like to thank this year's corporate sponsors, community partners, supporters and volunteers for all their dedication, support, volunteerism and hard work on this year's Juneteenth Community Celebrations events.
