HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Public Library is going to be unapologetically bad with their Bad Art Night on July 12.

Bad Art Night at the Hutchinson Public Library is slated to be a hilarious and enjoyable way for people to tap into their inner artists and forget the boundaries of perfectionism.

People can have fun creating something unexpected while building community, connecting with others, and creating lasting memories.

Participants will be given a variety of unconventional and odd materials such as pipe cleaners, cotton balls, glitter and more.  These ‘awful’ masterpieces will be made in the library auditorium.

Additionally, books will be available for inspiration, published by prestigious institutions such as the Museum of Bad Art.

Hutchinson Public Library will make a display with these questionable creations when they are finished. These laughable art pieces are best accompanied with humorous titles and descriptions, so Hutchinson Public Library will throw out some ideas, not the art, as a group.

People will be able to vote for their favorite pieces and strive to win the 'Dumpster Fire' award or the runner-up award for the most creative use of materials, the 'You Tried' award.  Each award is accompanied by a small prize.

The Bad Art Night program is best suited for adults and teens ages 13 and up.  Registration is not required for this free-to-participate event.  However, supplies will be available on a first-come first-serve basis.

The Hutchinson Public Library is located at 901 N. Main St.
