Hutch Rec releases lineup of Hutch Fest events for Oct. 6 and 7

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutch Rec, in a partnership with the Downtown Hutch Rod Run, have released the lineup of activities and events taking place during Hutch Fest on Oct. 6 and 7 in Downtown Hutchinson.

• Downtown Hutchinson Rod Run: Oct. 6 & 7

The annual Downtown Hutchinson Rod Run & Classic Car Show starts at noon on Friday, Oct. 6 and continues through the evening of Oct. 7. This two-day event features hot rods, classic and antique cars, trucks, and motorcycles, as well as a Show & Shine, Main Street Cruise, vendor demonstrations, food trucks, and more. • Hutch Brewfest, presented by First Bank Kansas: Oct. 7 from 2-5 p.m.

The Hutch Rec Foundation is once again hosting the 3rd annual Hutch Brewfest: A Craft Beer Festival, presented by First Bank Kansas. This event will take place in front of the Historic Fox Theatre on 1st Avenue. Proceeds from the event benefit the Hutch Rec Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support Hutch Rec by advocating for program improvements and recreational opportunities through charitable giving. Hutch Brewfest will feature a dozen craft breweries from across the state. NEW in 2023 – a special Homebrewer’s Competition, sponsored by The Clayworks. • Street Concerts: Oct. 6 & 7: Headlining acts will take the Lowen Live Stage (located at East 1st and Main) on both Friday and Saturday nights. Friday night concerts start at 7 p.m. with Wabash & Lake followed by Pettipaw Country who will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday night concerts start at 6 p.m. with the Josue Estrada Band followed by Bootleg Mercy and Paramount at 8 p.m. Street Concerts are free and open to the public, with beer and food sales available at The Pit Stop: Craft Brews and Food, featuring area food trucks (located at West 1st and Main).

The Peoples Bank and Trust Community Stage located at West 2nd and Main will feature local acts on Friday evening. On Saturday, the stage will feature the return of the Ad Astra Radio Talent Show preliminaries and finals. A special performance by the Hutchinson Municipal Band will take place at 2:30 p.m. Individuals interested in participating in the Talent Show can register on the Ad Astra Radio website at https://www.adastraradio.com/talent-show.

• Family-Friendly Activities: Friday’s Movie in the Park event features the free outdoor viewing of “Top Gun: Maverick” at DCI Park, 2nd & Main at 7:30 p.m.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, families of all ages are invited to DCI Park for the Hutch Fest Kids Zone, featuring the Hutch Clinic Community Tent and the Hutchinson Rotary Club’s InflataFUN Park. Sugar Sweet Concessions will be on-site selling sweet treats. Several community groups will be providing children’s activities under the Hutch Clinic Community Tent, featuring Touch-a-Truck, magic show, turtle races, bicycle decorating and parade, barrel train rides, and more. Special thanks to the community groups and businesses helping, including Hutchinson Art Center, Hutchinson Tree Board, Hutchinson Public Library, The Hutchinson Zoo, TECH, Creekside Neighborhood, Sky Ryders Performing Arts Foundation, Ron Sylvester presents Dad Magic, Eck Services, Guardians of the Children, and Harley’s Bicycles.

At 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dillons will be hosting a free Ice Cream Social on the corner of 2nd & Main.

Additional activities and vendors include: Axe It Up Hutch, Highlyfe Corn Hole Tournament, Death Grip Arm Sports arm wrestling competitions, and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
