Housekeeper

Salary Range: $14.00 to $20.00 hourly Status: Part-time, day shift
Description
The Housekeeper is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing rooms and furnishings and performing floor care in assigned areas. This position follows established policies and procedures while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation and providing assistance and support to residents at The Wesley.
Assist with laundry duties as requested.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Provide floor care appropriate to surface type as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cleaning chemicals currently in use, including proper usage and procedures.
- Assist with setup for various functions taking place within The Wesley complex.
- Assist with internal moves of residents, including packing and unpacking personal belongings and moving furniture as assigned.
- Deliver clean linen and towels to designated storage areas as assigned.
- Assist in searching for missing clothing, marking items, and returning them to the proper owner.
Special Demands
- Must be flexible with changes in duties and work areas.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work directly with elderly residents in one-to-one situations, clearly communicating tasks and helping alleviate apprehension related to assigned duties.
- Must be able to concentrate on details despite frequent interruptions.
- Consideration of residents must always be the first priority when performing tasks.
- Infection control must be practiced daily and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Must be able to distinguish odors and see well enough to determine whether surfaces are clean.
- Will be on-call as needed and must have reliable transportation and phone access for emergency call-ins with little or no notice.
Qualifications
- High school education or GED preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and receive oral or written instructions.
- Previous housekeeping experience preferred.
- Previous experience working with older adults preferred.
