⚾️🎥: Wind Surge win with walk-off in extras

WICHITA, KS - Alex Isola hit an inside the park home run in extra innings to give the Wind Surge the come from behind win and their first walk-off win of the season. The Wind Surge defeated the Cardinals 13-12 in a game filled to the brim with offense.

The Wind Surge were the first to put a run on the board. In the bottom of the third DaShawn Keirsey Jr. hit a 415 foot two-out solo home run over the center field wall that gave the Surge the early lead.

Springfield jumped ahead in the top of the fourth. L.J. Jones hit an RBI single and then Victor Scott II hit a three RBI triple to give the Cardinals a three-run lead.

The Cardinals earned a couple more runs in the top of the fifth. Mike Antico and Jones both hit RBIs.

Wichita exploded offensively in the bottom of the fifth. Ernie Yake started things off with an automatic double and then Brooks Lee and Keirsey Jr. hit back-to-back RBI doubles. Severino hit an RBI single. The deficit was erased when Patrick Winkel hit a three-run home run to give the Surge the lead. Yake grounded out in his second at bat of the inning but was able to drive in a run. Lee hit his second RBI of the inning in his second at bat and ripped a ball off the right field wall for a single.

Nick Dunn and Antico both had RBI singles and Jones got his third and fourth RBIs of the game off a sharp ground ball to center field for a double and the lead back for Springfield in the top of the sixth.

Springfield added another run when Dunn got his third RBI of the game on a sharp ground ball to left field in the top of the seventh.

Lee hit a 406 foot two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the ball game back up for the Wind Surge.

The Cardinals were first to score in extra innings. Dunn hit his fourth RBI of the game off a fly ball to center field for a double.

The Wind Surge were able to get the victory after Alex Isola hit a walk-off inside the park home run in the bottom of the tenth.

Travis Adams got the start on the mound for the Wind Surge. He pitched three and two thirds innings where he gave up four runs off five hits. He also struck out three and walked two more.

The Cardinals started Edgar Escobar on the mound and he pitched a full four innings. He gave up six runs off nine hits, struck out one batter and walked one more.

The Wichita Wind Surge improve to (7-8, 35-48) and the Springfield Cardinals fall to (7-8, 41-43).

NOTES: Brooks Lee hit his league leading 29th double of the season. Alex Scherff’s streak of not allowing a run ended in extra innings today. His streak ended after not allowing a run in his last eight games and eleven innings.
