Newman University and Hutchinson Community College have officially entered into a new partnership designed to give HutchCC students and graduates another pathway to earn a bachelor’s degree without leaving Hutchinson.
The two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing the HERE partnership, which will allow eligible students to complete select Newman University bachelor’s degree programs in Hutchinson.
The initial degree offerings will focus on Business and Education, with the possibility of adding other academic programs in the future.
A significant component of the partnership is financial assistance for participating students. The program includes a $20,000 annual scholarship per student from Newman University. Newman will also match eligible federal Pell Grant and state grant funding.
For students who qualify for the available scholarship and grant assistance, officials said the cost of completing a bachelor’s degree could be less than $1,000 per year.
The partnership is intended to provide HutchCC students and graduates with an affordable option to continue their education while remaining in the Hutchinson community.
Hutchinson Community College President Dr. Tricia Paramore and Newman University Vice President of Academic Affairs Adlen Stout were credited with helping develop the partnership.
Additional information about the HERE partnership, including eligibility requirements and enrollment details, is expected to be available through the participating institutions.
