HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The man arrested in connection with the abduction and shooting in Reno and Sedgwick counties will be back in court Tuesday for the formal reading of charges.
Kamden Campos is facing several alternative counts of attempted first-degree murder and several alternative counts of aggravated kidnapping. All are level one person felonies, which could see Campos spend a significant amount of time in prison if he is convicted.
Campos was arrested after allegedly abducting a woman and her family in Wichita. They drove out to Cheney Lake. When the woman tried to escape in a vehicle, Campos allegedly shot at the vehicle, hitting a 2-year-old girl.
The woman drove into Sedgwick County where she called 911. The child was taken to Wesley Medical Center where she underwent surgery and is recovering.
Campos is still being held on a $2,101,500 bond.
