Dwane Michael Jones, 70, of Pratt, Kansas died Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with his wife and son by his side.
He was born on June 5, 1953 in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Virgil and Helen Louise Mooney Jones, Sr. Dwane was raised in the Hutchinson area where he attended Hutchinson High School.
He married Barbara Kay White on June 17, 1972 in Hutchinson. They continued to live in Hutchinson until moving to Pratt 12 years ago. Dwane and Barbara were member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Pratt.
Dwane had been a truck driver for over 45 years, logging over 500,000 miles during his career. He had worked for Dillons before becoming and over the road truck driver.
Survivors include his wife Barbara of the home; son Jeffrey Owen Jones and wife Cyndi of Pratt; brothers Virgil Wesley Jones, Jr. and his wife Angela of Hutchinson, Carl Jones of Nevada, Tommy Jones of Hutchinson; sisters Brenda Yingling and husband Randy and Tina McCoy all of Hutchinson, Mary Gray of Arkansas; and three grandchildren Owen Tyler Jones, Maddie Kay Jones, and Konnar Michael Jones.
Dwane is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ricky Lee Jones and John Waldon Jones; and brother-in-law Charles “Chuck” Gray.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 5th, Dwane’s birthday, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Pratt.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with the First Southern Baptist Church in Pratt.
