K9 unit helps deputies catch Kan. felon with gun, drugs

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating two men on felony charges after a traffic stop

Just after 6p.m. Tuesday,  a deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 5400 block of SW Topeka Boulevard, according to a deputy Abigail Christian.

During the traffic stop, a K9 unit was deployed and located a loaded firearm inside the vehicle. Deputies determined the firearm belonged to Jeremy W. Taylor, 31, of Burlingame. He is a multi-convicted felon.

Taylor was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of aggravated felon in possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The driver of the vehicle, Lance E. Fox, 42, of Topeka, was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on  requested charges of driving while license revoked, insurance violation and vehicle registration violations.
