Vida Marie (Miller) Yutzy, 93, died February 4, 2023, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler. She was born February 25, 1929, in Kalona, Iowa, to Sylvanus and Martha (Beachy) Miller.
Vida completed the McPherson College LPN program and was very proud of her career as a nurse. She was a South Hutchinson resident for over 60 years before recently moving to Buhler. Vida enjoyed reading, puzzles, and the computer. She became very involved in the activities at Sunshine Meadows, including bingo, Wii Bowling, and music programs. Vida was an active member of Journey Mennonite Church and participated in women’s sewing, youth group, kitchen help, and Bible school. She also belonged to national and state LPN organizations.
On September 21, 1947, Vida married Oliver “Fred” Yutzy, in Kalona, Iowa. They shared 44 years before he passed on March 17, 1992.
She is survived by: daughters, Myrna Christiansen, Hutchinson, Gloria Hall (Steve), Hutchinson, Stella Riney, Haven, Connie Warrington, Hutchinson; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sylvia Miller, Kalona, Iowa, Ivan and Emma Miller, Hutchinson, Bill and Leanna Yutzy, El Dorado, Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews.
Vida was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Fred Yutzy; son, James Yutzy; grandson, Jay Christiansen; son-in-law, Monte Warrington; brothers, Leo, Howard (Vesta), Glenn (Lois), Ray (Velma), Sylvanus “JR” (Eula Jean), John (Grace); and sister, Edna (Dan) Kauffman.
Funeral service will be 10:30 am Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Journey Mennonite Church, South Hutchinson, with Pastor Howard Wagler presiding. Burial will follow in Yoder Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 am to 8 pm Thursday and Friday, with family present from 5 to 7 pm Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
