Susan Josie Duerksen, 93, passed away September 4, 2023 at Bethesda Home in Goessel.
She was born June 19, 1930 in Newton to Nickolai and Susan (Unruh) Schmidt. She married Walden Duerksen October 24, 1950 at Tabor Mennonite Church rural Newton.
Survivors include: sons, Londell (LeNora) Duerksen of Rural Goessel, Russell (Sandra) Duerksen of Rural Goessel; daughters, Tamara (Cal) Jost Rural Hillsboro, Kimberly (Darwin) Funk Rural Goessel; 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; sister, DeLome (Jerol) Schmidt of Rural Newton. Predeceased by: husband, Walden Duerksen in 2019; brother, Otto Nick Schmidt; sisters, Julia Regier, Rita Sperry.
Family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Tabor Mennonite Church Rural Newton. Celebration of Life 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the Church officiated by Pastor Todd Schlosser. Interment at Tabor Mennonite Church cemetery.
