
GREAT BEND, Kan. — No. 6 Hutchinson (5-0) has scored at least 113 points in each of its first five games of the season.
Two days after dropping the second-most points in a single game in school history (139), the Dragons poured in 121 against Victoria College.
Hutchinson made a record 18 threes to begin the season, hit 16 Wednesday against Labette, and turned in 14 against Victoria College.
Ty Frierson stayed hot in his starting role with 19 points. The freshman has been in the starting lineup since the second game of the season.
Frierson managed just three points in his first start, but has since averaged 19.3 points per game.
Aaron Franklin also added 19 points to go with seven rebounds.
Seven Dragons (Frierson, Franklin, Potter, Leyba, Bundy, Green and Garrison) scored in double figures.
Hutchinson hit 33.3% of its three-point attempts. The Dragons shot 47.9% overall.
Victoria was led by Chandler Collins-Johnson's 29.
"We were good in spots," coach Tommy DeSalme said after the game. The second-year coach said his team "just made enough plays" but has to "pay closer attention to detail."
DeSalme said his team could do better, especially defensively.
