HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Salvation Army will have another $20 Bill Match Day this weekend on Saturday, December 16.
Last weekend there was an increase in the number of $20 Bills compared to the previous Saturday’s $20 Bill Challenge resulting in (91) $20 Bills, which totals $1,820. This also helped achieve The Salvation Army’s largest daily kettle total of the season in Reno County. However, The Salvation Army has some new challengers for Saturday December 16. Major Paul James shared how thankful he was when he said, “It’s so encouraging to have Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Kiwanis, and the Lions Club all helping to challenge others to give to help our community.”
This week there will be a $3,500 match for $20 Bills or with a donation through a QR code on the kettle stand signs. “Our donors said they want to see our community help The Salvation Army to reach its goal,” said Major James. The Salvation Army raises the largest part of its annual operating dollars to help Hutchinson and Reno County throughout the year.
Currently, The Salvation Army is struggling to reach its goal, and needs the community’s support.
The Salvation Army also needs help to get enough toys for 10-12 year olds and infants. Saturday, December 16th is also the last day that the Angel Tree will be located at Walmart. Toys can be dropped off at the Walmart Service desk or at The Salvation Army located at 700 N Walnut.
Monday, December 18 is the day of the Toy and Food distribution.
