HUTCHINSON, Kan. — In Reno County, 21% of adults report they smoke, which is higher than the state of Kansas average of 18%. The Reno County Health Department is working to address this through the Chronic Disease Risk Reduction grant from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Health educators are available to assist local groups and businesses in reducing tobacco consumption. Call Diane Swinney at 620-665-8882 for more information.

May 31 is World No Tobacco Day. This yearly celebration informs the public on the dangers of using tobacco, the business practices of tobacco companies, what WHO (the World Health Organization) is doing to fight the tobacco epidemic, and what people around the world can do to claim their right to health and healthy living and to protect future generations.
