NEWTON, Kan. — According to an update from Newton City Manager Kelly McElroy, the Newton Convention & Visitors Bureau has traditionally offered funding to help sponsor events and programs that draw tourists to Newton.
Last month, the Newton CVB Advisory Board approved an application and scoring matrix to formalize the application process for those events and organizations seeking funding from the CVB. The form reinforces the goals of the sponsorship program:
- Increasing overnight stays at Newton hotels.
- Promoting a positive image and increased visibility of Newton’s attractions and events.
- Increasing expenditures by visitors to Newton.
- Providing programs and activities beneficial to drawing additional tourists.
The funds are intended to help organizations with the marketing of their events. Organizations interested in receiving funding can contact the Newton CVB office (316-284-3642) for more information or download a fillable PDF version of the application form.
