LINDSBORG, Kan. — Bethany College is thrilled to announce the selection of three outstanding students to participate in the prestigious Kansas Intercollegiate Band. Dominic Grizzle, a Freshman Music Performance Major from Broken Arrow, OK, Zachary Salas, a Sophomore Music Education Major from Salina, KS, on trombone, and Ariana Nunez, a Sophomore Music Education Major from Salina, KS, on horn, have been chosen to join this esteemed ensemble, showcasing their exceptional musical talent and dedication.
The Kansas Intercollegiate Band is a highly competitive auditioned group comprised of the finest collegiate musicians from across the state. Selected through a rigorous adjudication process by Kansas college and university professors, these students have demonstrated their exceptional abilities and commitment to musical excellence.
Shawn Knopp, Intercollegiate Band Chair, expresses his anticipation for the 2024 Kansas Intercollegiate Band, stating, "I look forward to seeing the extraordinary talent that will comprise the 2024 Kansas Intercollegiate Band."
The students will have the opportunity to rehearse during the Kansas Music Educators Association In-Service Workshop on February 22 & 23, 2024, with the culminating performance scheduled for February 23rd at Century II.
Shelley Jagow, Professor of Music at Wright State University School of Music, will be the featured conductor for this year's Kansas Intercollegiate Band.
In response to this achievement, Keith Dodson, Assistant Professor of Music, commented, "This is a remarkable accomplishment for Dominic, Zachary, and Ariana. Their dedication and talent have shone through, earning them a well-deserved place in the Kansas Intercollegiate Band."
