HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Hutchinson man was arrested after he allegedly threatened two people with a gun while their children were present.

Police say 59-year-old Tommie Jones was taken into custody just before 5 p.m. Tuesday on two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated child endangerment, felony interference with law enforcement and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

Preliminary reports say the two people were threatened by Jones in the 1700 block of E 4th Avenue after the two men got into an argument over the storage of some of Jones’ property in the building. During the argument, Jones produced a handgun and shot it in the direction of the couple.

Jones fled the scene but was found at his home in the 1200 block of East Avenue C. He was observed leaving the residence and was stopped by Hutchinson Police and taken into custody. He is currently free on bond. There were no injuries.
