With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the vibrant life of Kathy Ann Collins, who passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, surrounded by family and sunshine—the way she would’ve wanted it. Kathy was born December 18, 1949, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the beloved daughter of Sammie and Patsy (Cornett) Collins of Burrton, KS.
A proud Kansan with a joyful spirit and a deep Christian faith, Kathy lived each day with kindness, laughter, and a contagious sense of fun. A true kid at heart, Kathy was known for her big hugs, bigger smile, and the jokes she always had ready—no matter the occasion. Whether sharing stories, flipping through true crime books, or soaking up the sun outdoors, she found joy in life’s simplest pleasures. She had an adventurous soul, never one to pass up a spontaneous trip, and always the first to say “yes” to new experiences.
Kathy wore many hats in her life—working the land as a farmer, and later as a dedicated administrative assistant in the aerospace and defense industry. But her favorite title by far was “Grandma.” Her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was boundless, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Kathy is survived by her devoted partner of 25 years, Chaz Green of Mesa, AZ; her siblings Debbie Brauer of Wichita, KS, Sondra Collins of Las Vegas, NV, and Cindy (Hector Martinez) Collins of Tempe, AZ; her sons Chris (Nadine) Bontrager of Phoenix, AZ and Bo (Sarah) Bontrager of Parker, CO; six grandchildren—Caleb (Selena), Davin, Natalie, Hannah, Caiden, and Hayden; and two great-grandchildren—Aurora and Draiden. She leaves behind countless memories and a legacy of laughter, love, and light.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Sammie J. Collins.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held at Valley Township Cemetery in Burrton, KS, at a later date.
