Elaine Kay (White) Meier, 78, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Hospice House of Reno County, Hutchinson, KS.
Elaine was born in Hutchinson, KS on January 24, 1946, to Thomas and Amelia (Gerard) White. She grew up in Castleton and Pretty Prairie, KS, graduating from Pretty Prairie High School in 1964.
Elaine met and married James Meier in 1965 and was a homemaker while raising her three children. She worked alongside Jim at Paganica Country Club and Jimmy’s. Later she worked for Dillon’s in the bakery, retiring from there in 2011.
Elaine loved helping others and was active in her church and community. She prepared meals for Christian Soup Ministry and delivered for Meals on Wheels. She was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and assisted with funeral dinners. Many friends and family will remember her most for giving the BEST HUGS!
Elaine is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Meier; children; David Meier (Anne), Debra Baldacci (Martin), Cynthia Brown; and her sister Patricia (White) Perkins. She was a loving grandmother to Natalie Meier, Logan Baldacci, Jordan Brown and Madison Brown. She
was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Thomas B White and Lawrence White; sisters, Dorothy (White) Roylance, Teresa (White) Barb, Mary Lou (White) Hedrick and Francie (White) Grilliot.
Parish Rosary will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2024, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2631 Independence Road, Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2024, at the church. Graveside service will follow at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson. Lunch will be served following the graveside service at Holy Cross.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Reno County, Elmdale Senior Center, Hutchinson, KS or Alzheimer’s Association of Central & Western Kansas, in memory of Elaine Meier and sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel.
