Arthur Eugene "Art" Porting, 91, of Rifle, Colorado, passed away on September 28, 2023, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.  He was born on January 30, 1932, in Kansas City, KS. Art was a beloved father, known for his sweet and flirty nature, always with a wink. He had a great sense of humor and was a dedicated fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the University of Kansas Jayhawks.

Art is survived by his two daughters, Terri and Debi, his stepdaughter Linda, their spouses, and his extended family of grandchildren and great grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his wife Freeda, his brother Raymond, and both parents, Gus and Goldie.

Art graduated from Hutchinson High School and went on to serve in the Naval Reserves. He pursued a career as an optician, which he dedicated his entire working life to. Many in Hutchinson may remember seeing him selling tickets at the Kansas State Fair.

Outside of work, Art enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including bowling, fishing, and boating. He was a founding member of the Hutchinson Water Sports Club and loved water skiing in his free time. He taught many families how to water ski.

Art spent his final years as a resident in the Grand River Health Care Center where he was loved by all those who took great care of him. He was one of the first residents relocated to the new facility in 2021. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Grand River Health Care Center by sending a check in Art’s memory to GRHCC, 701 E 5th St, Rifle, CO 81750.

A celebration of Art's life will be held in Hutchinson, KS in the summer of 2024, and will be announced at a later date. Hutchinson Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Art Porting will be remembered as a wonderful father, a funny and kind-hearted man, and a cherished member of the community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
