🏀 WBB: Five Dragons finish in double digits against NWT

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson (13-3, 7-3) shot 61.5% in the first quarter against Northwest Tech (2-11, 0-9), built a nine-point lead and never looked back.

The Dragons never trailed in the contest and shot 46.4% from the floor while holding the Mavericks to 28.6%.

Mya Williams led the way for Hutchinson with 15 points. Mel Kailahi and Janaya Washington each added 13. Tor'e Alford scored 11 and Kali Howard dropped 10.

Ziya Simms pulled in 11 rebounds. Kailahi added seven boards and five assists.

The Dragons assisted on 20 of 26 made baskets.

FINAL: Hutchinson 74 NWT 42

The Mavericks were led by Moniek Merringa's 15 points. She was held to just two points in the second half after hitting 4 of 8 threes to start the game. She finished 5 of 12 from distance. No other Maverick scored more than six.

The Dragons tallied 36 points in the paint and 27 points off 28 NWT turnovers.
