Salvation Army, Cosmosphere come together to kick off Polar Express

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — As it does every Christmas season, next week the Polar Express rolls into the Carey Digital Dome Theater at the Cosmosphere. For some families, bringing children in pajamas to see the Christmas classic is an annual tradition.

This year, opening night for Polar Express on Dec. 16 at the Cosmosphere will be extra special. The Salvation Army will bring their canteen vehicle to the Cosmosphere parking lot to serve free cocoa, coffee, and Sugartime Confections cookies beginning at 6:00 p.m. that night.

At 7:00 p.m. that evening, the first of Cosmosphere’s 2022 Polar Express screenings begins. Additional showings continue December 17 through January 1.

The film, based on the children’s book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg, tells the story of a young boy’s journey to the North Pole aboard a magical train.

For tickets and more information, visit cosmo.org/exhibitions/theater.

Cocoa, coffee, and cookies are available for opening night only. Children are invited to attend any Polar Express showing in their favorite pajamas.
