Anna Varney, 104, passed away December 17, 2022, at Legend of Hutchinson, KS. She was born August 17, 1918, in Lone Tree, KS, to Frank Wedel and Helena (Boehs) Wedel.
Anna was a homemaker and always had a beautiful yard full of flowers. She was an avid gardener with a very ‘green thumb’. Anna enjoyed crocheting afghans and was a voracious reader. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, South Hutchinson, KS.
On August 17, 1940, she married Vincent E. Varney, in Hutchinson, KS. They shared over 60 years of marriage, prior to his death on July 6, 2001.
Anna is survived by: her children, Norma Blick of South Hutchinson, KS, Dean Varney of Hutchinson, KS, Ron (Kristy) Varney of Derby, KS, and Curtis (Jennifer) Varney of Hutchinson, KS; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; seven brothers; and five sisters.
Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson, KS, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., with Father Eric M. Weldon officiating both services. Burial will follow in the Windom Cemetery, Windom, KS. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2022, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
