Eleanor ‘Ellie’ Mae Jones, 92, died February 2, 2024, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler, KS. She was born January 14, 1932, in Minneapolis, MN, to Bernard A. Martens and Lydia L. (Adrian) Martens. Ellie was a 1950 graduate of Buhler High School, Buhler, KS. and then attended Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC.
On June 28, 1953, she married Robert ‘Bob’ J. Jones in Hutchinson, KS. They shared over 62 years of marriage, prior to his death on September 17, 2015.
Ellie and her husband Bob and two young children moved to Hutchinson, KS, on November 5, 1962, to work at the Christian Supply Store, which they later owned and operated until their retirement in 1993. She was a member of the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church, Buhler, KS.
Ellie is survived by: her children, Robert J. Jones, Jr. of South Carolina. Terri (Bob) Main of Hutchinson, KS, and Judy (Jake) Vanlandingham of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Jonas, Candace (Kris), Molly (Chase), Abby, Isabel, and Greta; and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, Sofie, Logan, Palmer, and Olivia.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; great-granddaughter, Halley Brown; and sister, Ruth Lyle.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community Chapel, 400 S. Buhler Road, Buhler, KS. Burial will follow in Buhler Municipal West Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary.
