Firefighters busy with two incidents Tuesday night, early Wednesday

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — At 12:17 a.m. Wednesday, The Hutchinson Fire Department responded to the 300 block of North Severance for a report of a structure fire. Crews found a single-story residential structure with smoke showing throughout the house. Crews immediately entered the structure and found a small fire in one room. Crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly eliminating any further threat.

The home was occupied by two people who self-extricated themselves. Both occupants were seen by Reno County EMS and released from the scene. No injuries were noted. The fire is currently under investigation.

Earlier Tuesday evening at 7:48 p.m., HFD responded to Olive Garden 1700 East 17th for smoke in the structure. Crews were able to find a defective capacitor with in the HVAC system. Olive Garden employees had evacuated the entire structure before HFD arrival.
