HARVEY COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just after 4 p.m. Tuesday in Harvey County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2015 Chevy 1500 driven by Tyler James Demette, 28, New Iberia, Louisiana, and a 1999 Chevy Blazer driven by Shayden Marie Jackson, 19, Newton, were both northbound on Interstate 135 just south of Newton.
A 2014 Kenworth semi was disabled and driverless on the right shoulder. A service truck was present changing a flat tire on the semi.
The Chevy pickup moved over into the left lane to pass the semi. The Chevy Blazer passed the pickup on the right, then attempted to move to the left lane to pass the semi in front of pickup and struck the right front corner of the Chevy 1500.
The collision caused the Blazer to skid sideways and roll approximately three times before striking the rear of the semi.
EMS transported Jackson to Wesley Medical Center. Demette was not injured. Both drivers were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
