Harold Parker Hess, 91, of Maize, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2023. He was born in Croft, Kansas to Jessie Emile Hess and Hazel (Kerr) Hess. He was raised in the Gridley, Kansas area where he attended school and was a graduate of Gridley High School. In 1951 he married his high school sweetheart Aileen in Aliceville, Kansas. In 1958, they moved to Valley Center, Kansas where they raised their family and where he began his career in trucking while he continued his love for farming, both were his devotion and love. For eleven years he drove once a week, 52 trips a year, to California to deliver for the milling company. He also hauled milk from the dairy farms along with produce and many other important items with great importance in our society. Harold then in 1969 bought into Magill Truckline being a great part of operations until they sold in 2015. When he was home from trips he was farming continually.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jessie and Hazel Hess, his brother Dale Hess and his son Edward 'Eddie' Hess.
Harold is survived by his wife Aileen Hess, son Douglas Hess and wife Sherri of Valley Center, daughter-in-law Gaye Hess, grandchildren Justin Hess and Nicole Arnet, great grandchildren Brekyn Hess, Berkli Hess and Lyla Arnet, many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Visitation 5-7 pm, Monday, May 22 and Services 10 am, Tuesday, May 23, both will be held at Riverview Baptist Church 844 W. 53rd St. N., Wichita, Kansas. Graveside will follow at Maize Park Cemetery, 12733 W. 53rd St. N., Maize, Kansas.
