Kurtis Richard Koenigsman, 56, of Hutchinson, died September 23, 2024, at his home. He was born September 18, 1968, in Osborne, to Richard E. and Darla K. (Streit) Koenigsman.
Kurt graduated from Tipton Catholic High School in 1987 and from Hutchinson Community College following. Kurt proudly served the City of Hutchinson for 31 years, where he retired in 2022 as the Central Garage Superintendent. Family was most important to Kurt, spending his time with his wife and providing life guidance to his sons. Kurt’s proudest moments were cheering on his sons through their sports careers and watching them graduate from The University of Kansas and Oklahoma State University. Kurt was ecstatic to become a grandfather in the upcoming months to his first grandson. He was actively involved at Trinity Catholic High School, serving on the school board and booster club, of which he was president for many years. Kurt was a longtime member of Church of the Holy Cross and Knights of Columbus Council #612.
On August 18, 1990, he married Donice M. Kitson, in St. Leo. She survives.
Kurt is survived by: his wife of 34 years, Donice; sons, Brandon Koenigsman (Chelsea) of Sedgwick, Eric Koenigsman (Cassidy Galloway) of Hutchinson; expecting grandson; parents, Richard and Darla Koenigsman of Bel Aire; brother, Robert Koenigsman (Kathy) of Wichita; sister, Gina Hansmann (Tony) of Rogers, Arkansas; 5 nieces and nephews; a great niece & nephew; constant companion, Izzy; and grand-puppies, Lyla, Dano, Daisy, and Tripp.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Hartley.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2024, at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Road. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. The Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
