SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The South Hutchinson Fire Department responded to 103 E 7th at 10:08 a.m. Tuesday for report of an apartment fire. The first arriving unit reported heavy smoke coming out of a second story apartment. The crew made an interior attack and found fire in a bedroom.
There was heavy smoke and fire damage to one apartment, three apartments suffered minor smoke damage. Unfortunately three cats that were in the apartment perished. Red Cross was called to assist the residents. The cause is under investigation.
South Hutchinson Fire Department was assisted by Hutchinson Fire, Reno County Fire Dist #3, Dist #8, Buhler Fire, South Hutchinson Police Department, Reno County EMS, Reno County Emergency Management, Reno County Dispatch, Evergy and Kansas Gas.
