HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Newly elected Reno County Treasurer Richele Calvert came to the Board of County Commissioners meeting on Wednesday to introduce herself to the commission after winning the vote from the party committee last month to replace Brenda Kowitz upon Brenda's retirement.
"I'm very familiar with our office," Calvert said. "I've been there for almost nine years, March 2nd, it will be nine years. The duties of office, I'm very comfortable with. There's a lot going on. Of course, right now, we have one of our major tax distributions. I've spent, like the past week and a half preparing for that. Hopefully, in the next few days, by Tuesday, I hope to have that finalized."
The commissioners congratulated her on her election and let her get back to work.
