HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Hutchinson man is awaiting extradition to Kansas from Colorado in relation to the homicide of another Hutchinson man whose body was found in Harvey County last week.

The body of 31-year-old Tyler Lee Ford of Hutchinson was found in East Park in Harvey County on Sunday, September 17. It was determined Ford died from a gunshot wound.

A joint homicide investigation began involving numerous officers and detectives from the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office, Reno County Sheriff’s Office, and the Hutchinson Police Department. A person of interest was identified, which led the investigation to a residence in the City of Hutchinson. A search warrant was executed at this residence, and evidence of the crime was discovered.

Twenty-eight-year-old Clancy Nelson Jr. was identified as a suspect in the death of Mr. Ford. Law enforcement officers were able to determine that Nelson was in Aurora, Colorado. An arrest warrant was issued for Nelson, and with cooperation from the Aurora Police Department, Nelson was located and taken into custody without incident.

Nelson is currently in custody in Adams County, Colorado, pending extradition to Hutchinson, Kansas on the charges of Second-Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery, and Aggravated Assault.
