HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Farmers Market is taking advantage of a grant to allow those on food assistance to purchase goods from the market.
Residents on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program (SNAP) or other food assistance can use their cards to purchase food from the market. If you use your SNAP card the farmers market will double your purchase up to $25 that can be used to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables.
The program is offered through a grant and support from the Reno County Farm Bureau, the Reno County Extension Service and the Food Policy Advisory Board using funds from the Chronic Disease Risk Reduction Grant.
The farmers market is open each Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and each Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
