Fires now 95% contained, but eyes are on Friday's windy weather

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Fire Department Chief Steve Beer says the favorable weather Wednesday allowed fire crews to get more control of the two wildfires that erupted in the county on Monday. 

As of Thursday morning, both fires were 95% contained. Crews are still monitoring both fires as the winds are forecast to pick up again on Friday.

Township crews were also out repairing some of the township roads that saw lots of heavy traffic during the fire, especially along 108th Avenue.

Beer also said he wanted to thank all of the volunteers, companies and restaurants that provided support and food. Beer released the names of those below:
