SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that may be the result of a road-rage incident.

Just before 2a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a shooting call in the 1500 block of North Poplar Avenue in Wichita, according to Officer Juan Rebolledo.

First responders discovered a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.  EMS transported a second victim, an 18-year-old, to an area hospital. He remains in extremely critical condition.

Investigators are speaking with person(s) of interest in connection to the shooting to determine what led to this tragic incident. Preliminary information relayed to investigators suggests all individuals involved know each other and that a possible road rage incident in the 1900 block of Broadway hours prior may have led to the subsequent shooting, according to Rebolledo.

At this time, police do not believe that there are any outstanding individuals and there does not appear to be a threat to the general public.

Police are working to notify all family members before they release names of the victims.
