HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The earnings parade for companies with local ties kicks off Thursday when Union Pacific releases its 3Q earnings report.

The railroad will be looking to build on a positive second quarter. The nation's largest railroad posted second quarter net income of $1.8 billion, or $2.72 per diluted share.

The railroad still faces challenges in shipping as high demand and breaks in the supply chain kept goods from moving, especially in the intermodal division. Carload revenue jumped 22%.

Union Pacific operates about 25 trains per day through Reno County and is the fourth highest property tax payer in the county.
