NICKERSON, Kan. — The Nickerson City Council will meet and try to come up with a date for a workshop to discuss the recently passed and then revoked ordinance dealing with the city’s housing issues.
The matter will come up for discussion during tonight’s agenda session. The council originally passed an ordinance to try and get home and business owners to provide more upkeep on vacant structures in an effort to find tenants or new owners for them. The ordinance was in place for two weeks before the council did an about face and voted to rescind the ordinance.
City Clerk April Beshears called a workshop for Monday, Jan. 3 to discuss the matter. Only three council members showed up and the meeting was canceled.
Tonight's Nickerson City Council meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the city offices.
