HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Stage 9 Theatre in downtown Hutchinson will hold auditions this weekend for its upcoming production of the musical comedy “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.”
Auditions are scheduled for Friday, Aug. 21, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Stage 9 Theatre, 9 S. Main St.
Those auditioning are asked to prepare two songs — one upbeat selection and one ballad — and bring their own backing tracks. There will be no accompanist available, and sheet music and a cappella auditions will not be accepted.
Participants are also encouraged to bring a headshot and resume if available, along with a complete list of any conflicts during the rehearsal schedule. Auditions will also include cold readings from the script.
Stage 9 officials note that performers cannot have conflicts during tech week or scheduled performances.
“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, is a musical comedy exploring the challenges, humor and complications of relationships and love.
The Stage 9 production is scheduled for Sept. 17 through Sept. 20. Performances Sept. 17, 18 and 19 will begin at 7:30 p.m., with a 3 p.m. matinee scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 20.
