Two arrested following Sunday shooting

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Police have arrested two people in connection with a Sunday morning shooting in the Salt City. Police say at 4:54 AM, officers of the Hutchinson Department were dispatched to the 300 block West Ave B in reference to a shooting.

When they arrived on scene, they located John Cantu III HM/18 of Hutchinson with two gunshot wounds to his legs. It was determined that the shooting occurred in the 100 block of South Madison Street. Cantu was transported by EMS to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center where he was subsequently treated and released.

At the scene, Sergio Luna Para HM/26 of Hutchinson and Demetrius Cantu HM/31 of Hutchinson were both arrested for felony interference with law enforcement after the shooting occurred.

This is still an active investigation. Persons of interest who are acquainted with the victim have been identified.

This is all the information that is being released at this time. Those arrested shall be considered innocent until proven guilty.
