
COFFEYVILLE, Kan. — The Blue Dragons erased an 18-point deficit in the second half to come from behind and defeat the Coffeyville Red Ravens 68-63 on Wednesday inside Nellis Hall.
Hutchinson fell behind 53-35 with just over 3 minutes remaining in the third period, and then trailed 56-42 entering the fourth quarter.
That is when the Blue Dragons would turn it on, outscoring the Red Ravens 26-7 in the final frame to complete the comeback and secure the second-largest comeback for HutchCC under head coach John Ontjes.
The Blue Dragons were led by Monae Duffy's 23 points and nine rebounds. Mya Williams added 15 points on just 1-of-6 from the floor, while knocking down all 12 free-throw attempts she took.
Hutchinson would go 23-of-29 at the foul stripe, including 17-of-22 in the second half alone. The Blue Dragons took care of the basketball, committing nine turnovers, while the Red Ravens turned the ball over 16 times.
The Blue Dragons are now 19-6 overall, 13-6 in KJCCC play. HutchCC maintains 4th place in the conference standings with the win, and now has a two-game lead on the Red Ravens after completing the season sweep.
Hutchinson returns to the Sports Arena on Saturday with a clash against No. 11 Dodge City (22-2, 17-1). Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
