HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Fire Department was called out at 4:11 p.m. Monday to the 7200 block of North Tobacco Road for a reported brush fire with possible structures threatened.

The first arriving crew found two brush piles with 40-foot high flames and requested mutual aid from the neighboring fire district.

Responding units were able to attack the fire and stop it from spreading to the property to the north. The fire was controlled quickly and overhaul began. That required felling several trees and extensive overhaul of the brush piles.

It took several hours to get everything out, but no one was hurt and no property was lost.

Hutch Fire thanked Buhler Fire, Hutchinson/Reno County Emergency Communications and the Reno County Sheriff's Office for their help.
