SEDGWICK COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 7a.m. Monday in Wichita.
According to Wichita Police, a white Ford Focus hatchback driven by 35-year-old Joseph McCartney of Wichita was traveling in the 1500 Block of East 21 Street North. The vehicle rear-ended a tractor-trailer that was disabled in the roadway. McCartney was pronounced dead at the scene.
Early indications suggest speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
