HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Boys & Girls Club of Hutchinson announced Friday that Jenna Lightsey has been named the 2020 Youth of the Year.
As the local Youth of the Year, Jenna will serve as an ambassador for all teens in the local club, receive a $1,000 college scholarship thanks to Heartland Credit Union, and will go on to compete in the state Youth of the Year competition.
Jenna is a senior at Hutchinson High School. She has been a club member for 11 years and works as a Vision Leader at the Boys & Girls Clubs. She is currently studying for her CNA and CMA licenses and plans to become an elementary school teacher. Jenna believes everyone should have the chance to be successful and happy.
“Being named Youth of the Year is a lifelong honor,” Chief Professional Officer Skip Wilson said. “As the Hutchinson Youth of the Year, Jenna will serve as an ambassador and role model for our young people, sharing her inspiring story and leading the way to transform our club and community for the better.”
D’Naeya Gray, Sadye Patterson and Catelyn Washington were each named as runners-up. Jose Ledezma, a freshman at Hutchinson High School, was recognized as the Junior Youth of the Year.
