Charlene Wesley, 90, died July 5, 2024, with her husband of 71 years and their three children by her side.  She was born November 8, 1933, in Kansas City, KS, to Charles and Hazel (Bialusha) Foerschler.

Charlene graduated from Wyandotte High School, Kansas City, KS, where she was the head cheerleader, editor of the school newspaper, and lettered in synchronized swimming.  While at KU, she was a member of Gamma Phi sorority.  In addition, Charlene enjoyed painting, sculpting, and playing the piano.  She was a 50-year member of P.E.O. Chapter Q, thus earning the distinction of a “Golden Girl”.  Charlene was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.   She was a devoted and proud wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

On March 14, 1953, she married R. Clark Wesley, in Kansas City, KS.

Charlene is survived by:  husband, R. Clark Wesley of Hutchinson; children, Dr. Michael Wesley (Kelly) of Hutchinson, Cynthia Marion (Reverend Michael) of Wichita, and Rebecca Wesley (Lou Valdez) of Colorado Springs. CO; grandchildren, Amber Manns, Jonathan Wesley, Megan Smith, Ashlee Elwell, Austin Elwell, Rheeanon Wesley, Heidi Gordon, Joshua Marion, Katherine Marion, Jennifer Ruzich, and Emily Lawrence; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and sister-in-law, Nancy Foerschler of Lawrence.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Hugh Foerschler.

Memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2024, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 17th and Main, Hutchinson, with Pastor Craig Hauschild and the Reverend Michael Marion officiating.  Private family burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.  Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.  The family will receive friends following her memorial service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church or the Hutchinson Community Foundation, to benefit the Fund for Reno County Endowment, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501.
