HUTCHINSON, Kan. —  In recognition of the Dillon Nature Center’s Foundation 50th year, DNC Foundation board members are inviting nature center supporters and the public to donate to a special 50 for 50 Fundraising campaign.

For 50 years, the Foundation has provided support to Dillon Nature Center. Notable projects include: Construction of the Visitor’s Center; updates to the Closer Look at Nature interactive exhibits; construction of the Jim Smith Family Playscape; and the recent purchases of a tractor, mower, and truck.

The Foundation’s work continues to position DNC as an innovative nature education and outdoor recreation experience in the region. Most recently, the Foundation funded the development of a strategic plan that will determine the program, facility, and partnership needs. The implementation of this strategic plan will establish Dillon Nature Center as a leader in nature education and environmental stewardship by connecting our community to nature and empowering them to create a sustainable future through conservation efforts.

As the nature center prepares for the strategic plan final report this winter, the Foundation has set a goal to raise $50,000 to support the goals and initiatives approved in the plan. To contribute to this important endeavor, donations may be sent to: Dillon Nature Center, 3002 E. 30th Ave. For more information about the 50 for 50 Fundraising Campaign or the DNC strategic plan, please contact John Gallagher, Director of DNC, at [email protected] or (620) 663-7411.

Additional details about the strategic plan will be released throughout the winter online at dillonnaturecenter.com as well as the Dillon Nature Center Facebook and Instagram pages. Supporters will also receive information through email.
