McPherson Co. man dies, another injured after 2-vehicle crash

MCPHERSON COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 7:30a.m. Wednesday in McPherson County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2011 Chevy Silverado driven by Harry Neufeldt, 92, Inman, was westbound on Arapaho Road  and failed to stop at the stop sign at Kansas 61 Highway.

The pickup struck a northbound 2020 Kia Soul driven by Aung Thiha Kyaw, 31, Salina. After impact the pickup came to rest in the roadway and the Kia came to rest in the median.

 Neufeldt was airlifted to Wesley Medical Center where he died.  EMS transported Kyaw to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Newfeldt was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.

MCPHERSON COUNTY — The Kansas Highway Patrol and McPherson County Sheriff's Office are reporting that K-61 was closed for around two hours Wednesday morning at Arapaho Road in McPherson County due to an injury accident.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, troopers Malo, Voss, Fraser, and Rust are actively investigating this two-vehicle crash. Eagle Med is transporting one person to Wesley Hospital in Wichita.

The road was reopened just prior to 10 a.m. Wednesday.
