HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson City Council and the board of the Hutchinson Recreation Commission are holding a joint meeting Thursday morning at City Hall. The two bodies plan to discuss the Aquatics Master Plan in the context of the repairs likely needed to Salt City Splash.

According to the report from Lamp Rynearson provided in agenda documents, it would take somewhere between $450,000 and $550,000 in upkeep to refurbish Salt City Splash, even though it is generally in serviceable condition.

The City Council directed earlier this year that the idea of neighborhood pools also be explored as part of the larger plan.

Also on the agenda is the end of season report from Salt City Splash. The facility is not profitable and has not been since at least 2019, though the amount of losses has been less the last two years and is only $23,378.18 in 2022.

The Athletic Facilities also operated at a small loss in 2022. According to the report in the packet for Thursday's meeting, the loss was $20,000.

The two boards will also discuss the Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative as part of their meeting at 9 a.m. Thursday at City Hall at 125 East Avenue B.
