Registration for Hutchinson Police Youth Academy due soon

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Police Department (HPD) is reminding people that June 16 is the due date for 2023 Hutchinson Police Youth Academy applications.

The Youth Academy will take place on July 13 and is for upcoming seventh-graders only. Anyone within Reno County that meets the requirements may participate.

This is a free and fun educational opportunity by HPD to allow youth in the community to interact with officers and get a chance to have some hands-on law enforcement experience.

Subjects that will be covered include:

-Law Enforcement Center Tour

-Crime Scene Investigations

-Police Vehicles/Equipment/Drones

-Emergency Response Team Demo

-Firearms and Safety Demo

-K9 Demo

-Patrol Operations

-Crash Investigations

-Detectives/Investigations

-Police Records

-Animal Control

-Court Procedures

Lunch will be provided to all participants. 

The Hutchinson Police Youth Academy will take place at the Law Enforcement Center located at 210 W. 1st Ave. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
