VOLUNTEER CENTER OF RENO COUNTY

The Volunteer Center of Reno County, a United Way agency, is a central clearinghouse for volunteer opportunities in Reno County. Area non-profit and governmental organizations have submitted the following requests for help. THE SALVATION ARMY thrift store is looking for a store clerk on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Volunteers will greet, check out and thank customers first, and then if time allows straighten clothes on racks and shelves, put hangers and tag/hang clothes. Volunteers will be on their feet throughout the shift, operate a cash register, and will need to be kind, respectful and have a positive attitude.

HOSPICE OF RENO COUNTY volunteers bring great joy to patients and their families! Hospice volunteers have many different talents. There are volunteer opportunities for everyone whether you enjoy spending time with patients or working in the office, possibly helping with lawn work, baking, sewing or visiting a Veteran. Help spread a little sunshine!

NJCAA DIVISION I VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT is being held 11/18-11/21 at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. Volunteers are needed to be pass gate monitors, help in the hospitality room, scan tickets, help with the video board, be a PA announcer, work the scoreboards and monitor the official’s locker room. Shift times vary but are usually in 4 hour increments throughout each day. Volunteers will have a place to sit and can watch games before or after their volunteer shift.

COSMOSPHERE — Volunteers are needed in a variety of ways at the Cosmosphere. Volunteers are needed to help at the information desk and provide information to guests, tour docents are needed to lead groups and share information about the Cosmosphere, CosmoKids volunteers are needed to assist children and their families with STEAM activities in the CosmoKids area, cargo bay gift store volunteers are needed to help staff in the store, and education area volunteers are needed to assist the Cosmosphere staff with education programs.

RENO COUNTY MUSEUM is looking for museum aide volunteers Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. or 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Museum aides will The mission of the Reno County Museum is to collect, preserve, interpret and share the greet museum patrons at the main entrance and provide information related to various facilities within the museum, provide information and assistance to patrons of the gift shop, including the operation of the cash register and issuance of receipts, as well as accept donations. Volunteers will be tracking attendance, tagging and stocking items and keeping the gift shop clean. There could be small office tasks that could be done at the front desk such as helping with event materials also.

Volunteers may also be assisting the administration, collections and curator departments. Volunteers should have an ability to interact courteously with the public, including children, an ability to provide general information related to the museum, its activities, and the community, basic math skills and monetary transactions skills, as well as customer services skills. Volunteers should be 18 years of age and over.
