
BARTON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects in connection with a car theft in Barton County.
Just after 10:30a.m. Oct. 20, police were dispatched to report of a car theft in the 2200 block of Tyler Street in Great Bend, according to a media release.
Officers were advised a 2015 Nissan Altima was taken from this location within the last few minutes. While officers were still on scene, a State Trooper with the Kansas Highway Patrol spotted a vehicle matching the description eastbound on Highway 56, exiting the City of Great Bend.

As the State Trooper turned around to check the vehicle, the car stopped on the shoulder of the road and two occupants fled from the vehicle. Kansas Highway Patrol troopers and the Barton County Sheriff's Office were able to locate and detain both suspects.
Joshua Kelly was arrested on requested charges of theft of a motor vehicle. Tyler Partington was a passenger in the vehicle and was also arrested on charges from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
